Meet Dave Paynter
Licensed Electrical Contractor / Owner/ Director
Known to our team as the “Jedi Master,” Dave has held his electrical licence now, 40 years—and more than earned the title. With over 25 years as a business owner, including 15 years running Switched on Sparkys in the Redlands, Brisbane, he brings a lifetime of hands-on experience to everything he does.
Dave began his electrical apprenticeship in 1981 in heavy industry in Newcastle, NSW, and has since built a broad depth of knowledge across the trade. His experience and practical approach form the foundation of our business and level of workmanship we are known for.
Throughout his career, Dave has mentored and trained many apprentices into skilled tradesmen and has provided valuable work experience opportunities for local students. As a family man, his approach to business has always been grounded in trust, clear communication, and genuine service to the community.
Meet Debbie Paynter
Operations Manager
With a strong background in administration and business operations, Deb plays a key role in keeping Switched on Sparkys running smoothly day to day. As Dave’s wife and our operations Manager, she stepped more actively into the business in 2021 and has helped strengthen communication with both clients and suppliers, while ensuring everything behind the scenes flows seamlessly.
Deb also manages our social media and marketing, helping to share what we do and connect with our local community. Her attention to detail, organisation, and care for our customers has played a big part in the continued growth of the business.
Meet Ben Paynter
Senior Electrician and Commercial Projects Manager
With over 15 years of industry experience, Ben leads our Commercial Projects Division and is known for his friendly approach, reliability, and attention to detail. He has successfully delivered a wide range of projects, including commercial office fit-outs, new store fit-outs, large-scale home renovations, and tailored cooling solutions for commercial and industrial spaces.
As a family man himself, he takes pride in supporting both homeowners and businesses with honest advice, quality workmanship, and he can’t help himself, but treat every job like it was his own.
Ben is also passionate about giving back to the community. Switched on Sparkys is now a sponsor of Queensland Scouts, and this was driven by Bens own initiative. His commitment to supporting local organisations and helping build strong community connections are inspiring.
